A BIG HELLO!

We understand that moving abroad is a big step to take because we have all done it ourselves! You may be 3,213 miles away right now but we can assure you, we are there for every mile of your journey from start to finish! The process can be a little confusing but you don't need to worry, we have a strong team of happy people who are waiting to help you.

During application it is important to understand that you will need to go through the following processes in order to legally work for us. Those with AU passports can normally have their documents stamped in their respective embassy in Hanoi, for HCMC the consulate-general (CG) will stamp all documents, provided they are issued in Australia.

The exception is if an AU passport-holder has a document from RSA or UK. In this case, the candidate should aim to have it stamped at their embassy. If the embassy (or CG) refuses, the candidate will need to undergo the applicable UK or RSA process using the link below. Please note that if your documentation has been issued from outside of your home country, it's wise to check in with us about procedure for support.

PREPARING YOUR DOCUMENTS

INVESTMENT

The big question that hovers over everyone's head, how much does it cost? The truth is that you will need to save a little before embarking on this journey. To help you understand the investment, we have broken everything down for you in steps, please click on the following link to find out more.

STEP 1

YOUR DEGREE CERTIFICATE

When you need to use a Australian document in another country, you might be asked to get the document apostilled or authenticated. Some countries call this legalisation. An apostille or authentication is an official government certificate that proves the signature, stamp or seal on a document is genuine. To find out what you need to do, follow the link below.

Please note that if you plan to get your documents legalized at the embassy or consulate in Vietnam, you do not need to get an authentication before coming over. However, please be aware that the Australian Embassy in Vietnam will not stamp any document that has not been issued in Australia.

STEP 2

YOUR TEFL/TESOL/CELTA

You can obtain a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA certificate online through many different companies. The prices range from $40 to over $2,000 so please choose your course carefully. If you have any questions or need some advice please send us a message on our live chat or use our contact form using the link below.

It's particularly important to note with TEFL certificates that often where you did it doesn't matter. Many well-known TEFL companies have offices across the world but will be registered in one particular country. The onus is on you to check with your embassy in advance.

STEP 3

YOUR POLICE CHECK

To legally work for us in Vietnam we will need to apply for a police check certificate. You will have a 6 month window where this certificate will be valid for so please consider this when applying for the check. To find out how to obtain a police check, please follow the link.

STEP 4

THE LEGALIZATION PROCESS

Your Degree, TEFL/TESOL/CELTA and Police Check will need to be legalized by the Australian Embassy office. To find out how to do this, please follow the link. Please note that if your documentation has been issued from outside of your home country, it's wise to check in with us about procedure as the Australian Embassy in Vietnam will not legalize your documents.

CONSULATE-GENERAL, HCMC

STEP 6

THE AFFIDAVIT

Because of Vietnamese government regulation, it is crucial that all of your documentation - degree, TEFL, and criminal background check - match your passport name exactly, including middle names. If this is not the case, you will require either a reissuing of documentation or, if this is too costly or not feasible, an affidavit. For most nationalities, an affidavit will be cheaper than the cost of reissuing a degree. If you are still waiting for your TEFL certificate to be issued, we strongly recommend informing the TEFL company that it must be an exact match of your passport name. This process can be done in Vietnam. However, we do recommend that you follow these steps in Australia.

STEP 7

CURRICULUM VITAE

During the application process we will ask you to provide us with an up to date CV with appropriate references. Please highlight any relevant teaching experience within your application and come to the interview prepared with any questions that you may have. If you have any questions in the meantime, take a look at our FAQ page.
